The tri-lateral summit of the Presidents of the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary took place in Budapest. The participants of the summit expressed their support to the revitalisation of the Visegrad co-operation the idea of which was conceived back in 1991 and which after a promising beginning, perished. They endorsed Visegrad co-operation recovery not only in the political domain but also in other fields. In the document that all three Prime Ministers signed they declared their commitment to traditional European democratic values, civil rights and market economy. (Source: TASR)

V4 Ministers of Defence met at the Marine Forces Headquarters of the Republic of Poland in Gdyna. They discussed the issues of European security and NATO enlargement together, they exchanged their experience from the Partnership for Peace programme and from the armed forces restructuring in the V4 countries;

The agreement on co-operation in customs issues was signed by the V4 customs authorities representatives at Donovaly. The participants said that the most significant contribution of the meeting was the agreement on concrete procedures for transit in the EU Member States and in countering of general crime, which also includes drug and nuclear waste smuggling;

In V4 senior representatives of Ministries of Defence met in Budapest. They exchanged views on the possible co-operation under the PfP as well as on the civil control of armed forces. They also expressed the involvement of their countries in the accession to the Euro-Atlantic integration structures;

An international seminar on Foreign Exchange Regimes in the Countries of Central Europe was organised by the National Bank of Slovakia in Starý Smokovec. The seminar was attended by the representatives of V4 central banks who discussed issues concerning the application of new foreign exchange legislation and its impacts on foreign exchange markets in the individual V4 countrie.

V4 Ministers of Defence meeting in Warsaw. They jointly discussed the co-ordination of a joint process before NATO summit. The strategic goal and result of their meeting was full membership in NATO and resolve to obtain NATO promise to enable them joining the Alliance;
11–12 January 1994
A meeting of Heads of States and Governments, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the V4 countries and the American President, Bill Clinton, took place in Prague. The main issue of mutual discussions was the conclusions from NATO summit and its opening to new members. The V4 countries expected a clear signal from NATO of its opening to new members. The meeting also declared an US support to the process of economic transformation, building of democratic institutions, creation of a favourable environment for investments and trade development in Central Europe by developing regional co-operation;

V4 Ministers of Agriculture met at České Budějovice. They discussed the development of trade liberalisation among the countries of the central European zone. Austrian and Slovenian experts participated in the meeting as observers;

V4 Ministers of Defence elaborated on three main areas of issues in Bratislava: evaluation of the co-operation in this sector, information about the engagement of their respective countries in the Partnership for Peace programme, possibilities of co-operation of the countries in the central European region.

Meeting of the V4 Ministers responsible for Education at Olomouc. The main topics of this meeting were education system policy, engagement of schools into educational and scientific programmes in the EC Member States and the possibilities of co-operation in the education to citizenry in post-communist countries;

V4 expert groups talks at Modra-Harmónia. According to the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) a free trade zone was to be established among the V4 countries within eight years. The parties negotiated a cut to five years;

A consultation meeting of experts from V4 Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Agriculture in Prague. The objective was to establish a close co-operation and a flexible response to the ban on live animals, meat and animal products imports from the CEEEs to the EC Member States;

An international conference in Krakow where the participants discussed the issue of joint or individual integration efforts by the V4 countries into the West European structures. The clear answer of this conference was a strong yes for a joint effort;

A closed meeting of V4 Ministers and the Director General of GATT, Mr. Peter Sutherland, was held in Budapest. The topics discussed were the positions of the group and V4 individual countries to the Uruguay Round on multilateral trade relations;
18–19 December 1993
A summit of representatives of V4 social democratic parties and parties with social democratic orientation was held in Bratislava. This meeting of representatives of seven parties discussed political and economic difficulties in the V4 countries and their relations with European security structures.
