Shanghai---On 24 September 2009 during the fourth Participants' Meeting of EXPO 2010, Mr. Pavel Stehlík was elected member of the Steering Committee for EXPO 2010. Mr. Stehlík, the Commissioner General of the Czech Republic for EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, whose candidature was supported by the Czech Government, became also the common candidate of the Visegrad Group countries as his candidature was supported by all V4 memberstates. This considerably contributed to the final success of this candudature and became another success case of V4 cooperation.
The Steering Committee of EXPO represents the common interests of all official participants and ensures that the Regulation of EXPO are fully implemented. The Steering Committee acts also in a consultative role to the Commissioner General of the EXPO as necessary and exercises authority when disputes arise. The Steering Committee is composed of 20 to 22 elected members and 1 to 3 elected Vice Chairmen.
